BWAHAHA.
Mr. Kitty scoffed. “Those are ‘regular’ in Japan,” he snorted.

1. That’s just fucking insensitive.
2. You guys can’t move on from Pearl Harbor? Have you forgotten how America retaliated? ATOMIC BOMBS. Two places, Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Civilians died, and for decades suffered radiation effects. Pearl Harbor is a military base. See the difference, weigh the casualties. Even Robert McNamara questioned the morality of America’s actions against Japan was commensurate to what Japan has done against the US.
3. Have you forgotten World Trade Center? Hurricane Katrina? How would you feel if people said the same thing, because let’s not forget Agent Orange in Vietnam, or the number of times the American government sponsored coup attempts in Latin America, or supported dictatorships.
4. Don’t fucking abuse Hindu beliefs and throw around the concept of Karma as if you know it.
5. The people who were involved in WWII are dead. These Japanese people who are affected by the quake and tsunami are the generations that pay taxes to the government. In effect, the same people who contribute so much to the United Nations, through aid and what not. The same people who gave their unequivocal support to the United States when the WTC attack happened. And you think they deserve this?
THANK YOU. God, the insensitivity and lack of compassion from people just sickens me.
Japanese Buddhists don’t need lessons about karma. Really. BTW the U.S. was playing isolationist, keeping themselves safe from other countries’ troubles when WW II broke out. Pearl Harbor did not happen in a vacuum. Japan still has to live with conditions set by the Allies over six decades ago. To the victor go the spoils, resetting the rules and writing their version of history.

Shiun Kondo active in 1910-30s - Great Kanto Earthquake - Around Maruzen
From the series, “Taisho Shinsai Gashu” (Pictures of Taisho Earthquake).
“Nihonbashi Doori, Maruzen Fukin” (Nihonbashi Street, around Maruzen).
September 1st in 1923, the massive earthquake jolted Kanto area. The collapsing building and the inferno followed the earthquake killed 140,000 people. It devastated Tokyo and the surrounding area. This one depicted the Nihonbashi street which was the main commercial area in Tokyo. Maruzen was a large book store. A horse wagon is running instead of the street cars. Some shacks for the simple meals were popped up 3-4 days after the earth quake.
