This needs to be my inspiration today, the calm face of Buddha.

I am in the middle of editing the English translation for my FiL’s book.  I’ve reached the part where history is being redefined.  One of the contentions is that Japan entered nations that had weak military forces in the name of protection.  That the western super powers  had already engaged in the same military, expansionist practices in the name of nation building, therefore Japan had the right to do the same.  And that Japan’s entering into these territories–China, Korea, Manchura–was done so to protect these nations from the encroaching west who was eyeing Asia though they–the Europeans, Americans, and Soviets– had no right to be there.  Japan was engaging in these maneuvers in a paternalistic way. Policies were introduced, such as the “Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere” to assist the independence of these colonized nations.
